Here at Sheen Dental our Hygienists are specialists in the prevention of gingivitis and periodontal disease which leads to, bad breath, early loss of teeth and staining. Periodontal disease can often go unnoticed because it’s painless, but over time can cause lasting damage to your teeth and gums.

Treating periodontal disease and giving smoking cessation advice and support is key role our hygienists will provide. They will measure the gaps between the gums and teeth to explore whether any necessary periodontal treatment is needed to prevent the disease from progressing. Giving anaesthetic to patients will enable a pain free experience.

Our Hygiene treatments are very thorough and include the removal of any plaque and calculus that may have built on your teeth and below the gums to ensure a healthy mouth. Your treatment would also include the removal of staining, by polishing and applying pholyatic, anti-microbial materials.

Our hygienists also include providing dietary advice to people of all ages. Here at Sheen Dental we recommend children see the hygienist on a regular basis. Our hygienists may dye plaque on the teeth to highlight any areas missed when using a toothbrush and offer advice on brushing techniques and flossing. Fluoride can also be applied to reduce dental caries.

They will also help you with specific dental hygiene needs, for example if you have a bridge, denture, orthodontic braces or a dental implant.
